The Peninsula Dons a Pink Tie

September 29, 2015
The Peninsula Dons a Pink Tie
The annual Peninsula in Pink campaign will return this October for its sixth year, once again placing the spotlight on breast cancer awareness in Hong Kong and around the world. A charity initiative close to the Grande Dame’s heart, this year’s events have been married with the hotel’s unwavering dedication to the arts – 2015 marks the unveiling of The Art of Pink, a series of art, dining and spa experiences to further guide social consciousness towards breast cancer research and education.

Passersby and hotel guests will be treated to a rose-hued display from 28 September to 31 October, when The Peninsula Hong Kong’s well-known fountain will glow a prominent pink; a view accentuated by two shining spotlights emblazoning the façade of the main tower with the Peninsula in Pink logo. But on 29 September, a truly special evening will take place. The Pink Tie fundraising gala is the first of its kind, an inaugural charity event that promises to be a glamorous affair. Featuring an exclusive auction hosted by Christies’ Asia Pacific Chairman, François Curiel, the night is set to sparkle with a curated selection of auction pieces donated by generous sponsors, all of which reflect The Peninsula’s world-renowned standards of luxury and elegance.

Guests may bid upon a dazzling butterfly brooch by Moussaieiff Jewellers; an elaborate creation crafted from pink morganite with rich, jadeite-carved wings and pink, blue, green and white diamond embellishments, all mounted in 18-carat white gold.

A taste for the finer things is celebrated with a luxury jaunt to Paris, which includes business-class flights for two to the City of Light along with a stay in The Peninsula Paris. Guests will also be treated to a two-day educational experience at the L’Ecole Van Cleef on Place Vendôme and a high jewellery atelier tour courtesy of the storied jewellery house.

Italy beckons as well, with a whirlwind sojourn featuring a private tour of the Tod’s Group-sponsored Coliseum restoration in Rome, where guests can view restricted areas while sporting a pair of made-to-order Gommino Club men’s driving shoes from Tod’s.
Those preferring a staycation won’t want to miss the chance to bid on a one night’s stay in The Peninsula Hong Kong’s Marco Polo Suite; an all-encompassing escape that features Rolls-Royce transfer, a 15-minute helicopter tour, pink Champagne breakfast for two as well as a limited-edition Pretty in Pink couple’s treatment at The Spa.

A collectible, hand-crafted Alligator Ricky Bag by Ralph Lauren (in pink, of course), rose-hued works donated by Korean pop artist Dongi Lee and The Sovereign Art Foundation, and creations from Chinese contemporary artist Qin Feng round out the list of auction highlights. The proceeds of the sales of these precious experiences and pieces will go directly to the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry – a longtime beneficiary of The Peninsula Hong Kong.
