PENINSULA CEREMONIES - SIGNATURE BODY TREATMENTS

These outstanding treatment ceremonies, especially designed by ESPA for The Peninsula Spa, are intricate, sophisticated and holistic. The fusion and layering of European concepts, Oriental and Ayurvedic philosophies, combined with contemporary treatment skills has resulted in the creation of a whole new treatment experience.

Begin with a Peninsula Tea Ceremony, an in-depth consultation and a fresh ginger foot buff to promote spiritual grounding. A Salt and Oil Body Scrub follows, before warm ESPA oils are poured onto the body and volcanic basalt lava stones are used for intensive massage. Jade stones massaged on the forehead and scalp refresh the skin and restore tonicity. Herbal concentrates blended with heated body masks of oshadi clay, marine algae or mud are smoothed on, and the body cocooned in natural linens. Acupressure facial massage helps revitalise the skin, and ultimate peace of mind is achieved with a luxurious Oriental head massage.

	With a tendency to overheat and suffer from sensitive skin, frustration and difficulty relaxing can prevail. The dynamic Yang mind benefits from the cooling and calming of chrysanthemum and black lychee, combined with ESPA essential oils, green tea and marine mud or algae.
	Yin Uplifter
	To balance an often-cold feeling, Yin requires warming and stimulation. The energising stone massage helps to improve circulation, stimulate the mind and bring the body into balance. The cocooning linen wrap intensifies the benefits of ginger, cinnamon and liquorice in the oshadi clay, blended with an oolong infusion and warming citrus scent of may chang in ESPA body oils.
	Pitta Pacifier
	In a state of high Pitta, stressed minds and bodies may be overactive and agitated, and will benefit from soothing, cooling and calming. Exotic ESPA body oils, bhringaraj herbal concentrate and restorative plant extracts bring calm to agitated minds and reduce muscular tension.
	Kapha Stimulator
	In a state of Kapha the skin may be dull or oily; there is a tendency towards puffiness and weight gain. ESPA Detoxifying Body Oil is blended with ashwaganda, an Indian herbal concentrate and marine algae to clarify the skin, stimulate the circulation and warm the body.
	Vata Comforter
	Dry skin, anxiety, hyper-activity and coldness are present when Vata is out of balance. Oshadi clay, marine muds and warming oils are blended with brahmi, a concentrate of ancient Indian herbs to restore balance and peace to chronically stressed bodies.
	Freedom of Life - Oriental Life Dance
	A unique powerful massage with a vigorous, free-flowing joint release technique, which replaces stressful tension. ESPA AYURVEDIC INFLUENCE - BODY FOCUS
Each ceremony is created to meet the specific needs of the moment. Cultural echoes of ancient Ayurvedic traditions, healing disciplines and western practices are linked together to nurture and rebalance the body in times of change, pressure and stress. An herbal tea infusion and foot cleansing ritual begin the ceremony.

	Ama Releasing Abhyanga
	A Salt and Oil Full Body Scrub stimulates and the hydrating facial cleanses the skin. The Ayurvedic marma point massage uses a warm infusion of oils and herbs to help with the elimination of toxins. A mind-clearing Oriental head massage or Shirodhara, follows as oil is poured onto the third eye and through the scalp.
	Purva Karma Four Hand Synchronised Massage
	An advanced combination of multiple stretching, rolling movements and long deep strokes using ESPA body oils enriched with Ayurvedic herbal concentrates, destresses the mind as two therapists work in synchronized harmony.
	Chakra Balancing with Volcanic Stones
	Skin brushing, exfoliation and an Express ESPA Facial begin the treatment. Specific placement of volcanic stones on the energy centers achieves new balance and grounding. A total body massage with ESPA-blended Aromatherapy oils and Ayurvedic herbal concentrate rebalance and re-energize.

ESPA SPECIALTY TREATMENTS
These specialty treatments have been designed with specific targets in mind. Pre-and Post-Natal Treatment is a luxury indulgence to aid in relaxation during this special time. To address areas of concern are the Anti-Cellulite Hip and Thigh and Deep Cleansing Back Massage.

	Pre- and Post- Natal Treatment
	Designed for mothers-to-be and nursing mothers to aid in relaxation and to improve skin's tonicity. The treatment uses a natural calendula-infused oil, muds, creams and advanced massage techniques to safe areas.

	Anti-Cellulite Hip and Thigh
	A specialized treatment to stimulate the circulation and lymphatic systems, concentrating on the hip and thigh areas which are prone to cellulite, fluid retention and uneven skin texture.

	Deep Cleansing Back Massage
	The back is deep cleansed, body brushed and exfoliated to help stimulate circulation and cell renewal, then relaxed with a luxurious Aromatherapy massage and body mask.
