O Christmas Tree!

December 09, 2015
O Christmas Tree!
Year after year, The Grande Dame’s enduring festive programme (#Jinglepen) continues to be a quintessential hallmark of Christmas spirit in the city, as the hotel’s glittering décor and memorable offers spread joy and cheer to all who visit. Holiday magic was indeed in the air this 9 December, when The Lobby was set aglow with hundreds of lights from its spectacular Christmas tree. Standing over six metres tall, this season’s choice was a classic Noble Fir; a majestic breed noted for its flawless Christmas tree qualities.
The Peninsula’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony is an annual tradition renowned for its warmth and splendour, and this year was no exception. To further commemorate the occasion, The Peninsula invited 20 young children and three babies to don the hotel’s signature pageboy outfit and take part in the celebration. Together with the hotel’s longest serving staff member of 57 years, Mr Johnny Chung, and General Manager Ms Rainy Chan, The Peninsula family of staff and hotel guests (plus the petit pageboys and pagegirls) gathered round the tree to witness it spring to life in a dazzling display of twinkling lights. As the live band provided hopping holiday tunes, visitors took the chance to snap a photo with the 1.5 m tall Papinee SnowPage mascot, a special guest star at the event.

Christmas canapés and drinks flowed long and free throughout the evening, as over 100 guests mingled with VIPs and key media. While the illuminated tree cast its warm glow on the festivities, the attendants sipped on mulled wine and eggnog and sated their hunger with mince pies and other classic treats … ’Twas a Merry Christmas to all, and to all a cheery night.
